Stand in the gap
Turn your eyes. Why did we start?
Right now, in America, a lot of our eyes the church’s eyes are on the world. It’s time the eyes of the world look to Jesus, and we do that instead of looking at the world's problems and our faults. We need to look to Jesus, the only one who can save us.
That’s why we started Turn Your Eyes. To turn our eyes from this world back unto Jesus. Like a camera lens, it's time we stopped focusing on the world and its worries. “Worry about nothing; pray about everything.” At Turn Your Eyes, we come back together as the body of Christ to pray, support each other, and to lift this nation up to the Lord.
In Lamentations, Jeremiah is weeping over the nation of Israel. In chapter 2, verse 19, it says, “Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches;
Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord.
Lift your hands toward Him
For the life of your young children,
Who faint from hunger at the head of every street.”
Earlier, he prophesied about the prophets who were prophesying false and deceptive things, telling Israel they would be okay and that they weren’t full of iniquity when, in reality, they were. It makes me wonder if the church in America right now is the one prophesying false and deceptive things is preaching feel-good messages, telling our congregations we will be okay. When the truth is our nation is dying and in need of a Savior.
But God hasn’t called us to water down the Word of God or to water down prayer. Again, in Ezekiel, he talks about the prophets, as it says in chapter 22, verse 28: “Her prophets plastered them with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies for them...” when God was looking for a man to “stand in the gap” v30, but found none. Our churches and our families need us to stop playing around with church and step up and seek the Lord, not just hear what we want to hear or complain about what we do hear. We need to pour out our hearts to the Lord for the life of our churches, our families, and this nation.
